HOW IT ALL BEGAN!!!
The TEND-A-TOT™, first called the Baby Schlep-A-Long, and still
nostalgically referred to as “The Schleppy” by family and close
friends who were there in the beginning, was an instant hit.
Everyone that saw me with my Grandchildren in a “Schleppy” either
wanted one or encouraged me to “Market them”!!!
“Time and Tide wait for no man”…nor, for that matter, no Yia Yia!!!
With coaxing and prodding and even admonishments, I slowly
began the process of getting the newly-named TEND-A-TOT™
market-ready. At first – and today I cannot believe my naïveté, I
stubbornly held to a commitment to sew each and every TEND-A-
TOT™ myself. This foolishness quickly dissolved into the stark
reality that I had to find someone to help me! But, who?
Determination finally paid off; and after months of internet
searching, I found a manufacturer, a woman-owed company in
Hastings, Michigan, ‘though I can scarcely think of this woman and
her family as anything other than kindred spirits. And because of
this, I let go of my initial, stubborn and foolish thinking that “no one
but I can make a TEND-A-TOT™!” and have entrusted production to
them. Each and every TEND-A-TOT™ that came off the machines
from the Hastings factory during the research and development
period simply amazed me. And with all the confidence in the world,
I can truly market the TEND-A-TOT™, knowing that they are being
made with the same care and pride with which I created the very
first one!
